What kind of foundation does the studio need to installed on?
Customer responsibility
Spread footings should be 18" diameter x 18" deep holes that are filled with leveling concrete from your local hardware store.
If you already have a hard foundation, this would be the best option to put your Mini-Office. If you do not have one, you can pour your own 4” deep foundation or hire a contractor to build one.
These can be store bought at your local home improvement store. They need to be 18" thick and and placed on site as level as possible.
What is the insulation?
In addition to our vented rainscreen on the perimeter of the product, we also provide a closed cell foam insulation in the interior make up of all the walls, floor, and ceiling. In the construction industry this is usually referred to as an R-Value.
What's the R-Value?
We designed all surfaces to have an equivalent R 19 value uniformly around the whole product. Because of the use of raw steel surrounds. There will be minimal thermal bridging occuring. This happens when the heat / cold tranfanfer through the exterior material to the interior surface. Wall surface most likely to experience this effect is the front glass wall. We intentionally positioned and over engineered the BTU output of the AC / Heater to blow directly against the surface first. This will help combat the effect. We also have dual pain glass with low e coating, and ultimately the use of curtains will be helpful as well.
We utilize a dual pane glazing system with two layers of ¼” tempered glass with an air gap of ½” between the two sheets of glass. In addition, glass has a low-e coating. This helps provide UV and thermal protection. If you need glass specifications our technical team can provide more info.

The wood interior is monolithic. Meaning all surfaces are wrapped in the same surface. The wood is Grade A plywood with the exterior layer being the specified wood finish. In addition each sheet of plywood has a clear matt finish to enhance its longevity and durability. (We have not considered “book matching” the plywood grain finish but it can be done with extra care from our point of purchase from the supplier.)
We have engineered the walls to have only one piece of conduit,(running to light switch) This frees up the ability to install art on the walls with virtually no concern of hitting any utilities.
Exterior of the building is cladded in steel providing a rainscreen for the building structure. A rainscreen essentially is an air gap between the skin of the building and the building itself. This allows us to vent hot and cold air before it's transmitted into the actual walls of the building.
The steel cladding is made of light gauge (24GA) metal. We offer a variety of finish options: Corten, Kynar, or Galvalume.
Engineered self healing steel called Corten.
Industrial grade paint called Kynar - We have more than the three color choices available on the website.
Our standard pricing is a shiny flaky metallic product used typically in farm equipment called Galvalume. It’s a very low maintenance industrial product fantastic in all climates.
Prior to delivery, you will need a dedicated 30amp 120 volt 3 wire outlet with NEMA L5-30 female locking plug. We recommend that you hire a local “professional - licensed and bonded” electrician to do the necessary preparation work required. They will need to determine if your existing house panel can handle the additional load of this Studio or if will you need to upgrade your panel to do so. We can provide the technical information for your electrician. It's nothing out of the ordinary but it is something we need confirmation on before we can sell you our product.

Don’t forget to include extra length if you want to run the cord around objects in the yard, like trees ect...

Steel base design provides a solid foundation and allows for the ability to level the structure on site as well as adjust it over time if there is some settlement of the foundation. We have a max of 5” of adjustment in every leveling foot, but we do ask that the foundation be level to within a ¼” to minimize any potential torsion prior to final leveling.
There are lifting points integrated into the roof plane of the product to allow for an installation with a crane in more difficult site conditions.
